 WEATHER
The weather during this time of year can be cold or mild, 10 - 70 degrees. The race may be cancelled due to snow or ice conditions. If roads are impassible due to inclement weather the race may be cancelled.
This situation is beyond our control and is not predictable.
PARK ACCESS FEES
The Cheaha State Park charges a $1 per person access fee for entering the Cheaha Resort Area at the top of the mountain. This area does not include the Country Store, but does include the restaurant,
hotel, lodge, campgrounds,summit, viewing tower and finish line. $2 per car parking fee is charged for entering the Cheaha Lake parking area at Aid Station 5.
MEDICAL The Clay County Rescue Squad will be at the race from start to finish and will assist with all basic medical needs.
COMMUNICATION All communication will be spearheaded by the Calhoun County ERC. All volunteers will have cell phones but race operations communications
will be handled with Amateur Radios. The Calhoun County ERC will have the proper radio equipment to communicate to/from the start of the race, finish line and all checkpoints.
Two ERC members in addition to aid the station volunteers will be located at each Aid Station and at Race Headquarters and the Finish Line.

Friday, February 22, 2008 packet pick up will be available in the Bald Rock Lodge located on Bunker Loop from 5:30p.m. till 8:30p.m.
Saturday, February 23,2008 race morning packet pick up will be available from 5:15 - 6:00am CST at A) The Bald Rock Lodge. Follow Race Day signs to the Bald Rock Lodge B) Race Start from approx. 6:30a.m. - 7:15a.m. CST.
BUS TRANSPORTATION
Bus will depart Cheaha State Park Finish Line at the Bald Rock Lodge at 6:05 a.m. CST. Bus will depart lodge at 6:15 a.m.CST. After entering Cheaha State Park, follow Race Day signs to the Bald Rock Lodge.
START OF RACE
- All runners must be checked in by 7:15 am CST
- Mount Cheaha 50K starts at 7:30 am CST sharp
- Parking at the starting area trail head is very limited
- The Talladega County Sheriffs Department will be in control of traffic in the starting area. Automobiles will not be allowed to be left parked on the side of the Hwy after the race begins, only prior to the race start.
- There will be no transportation provided from the race finish back to the start.
- Gatorade, water and basic necessities will be available at race start. Two portable toilets will be available at race start.
- Morning-of race packet pickup will be available at the start.
- Gear bag pickup will be available at the start with retrieval at the finish.
RUNNING THE RACE
- Numbers must be worn on the front and be visible at the aid stations for check in and out. Anyone not making a checkpoint in the allowed time will not be allowed to continue in the race.
- It is recommended that runners carry at least one water bottle on the course.
- If you drop out of the race, please stop at one of the aid stations. Let a race official know that you do not plan to continue. Clay County Rescue Squad and Communications support people will be available for your safety.
CARBO LOAD DINNER
- The Carbo Load dinner will be at the Bald Rock Lodge from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm on February 22, 2008. Tickets will be $8.00 in advance or $10.00 at the door.
